The earlier boat sets were a bit simplistic, but the one-piece-hull sets that came out later were great — very detailed and realistic. After a long respite, Lego brought back floating boats in 2006 with 7899, and for the first time, included a motor. Unfortunately the new Lego boat motor won't fit the hulls from earlier sets...bah!
